Do Duracell batteries violate any standard?

Duracell this week were forced to change the "it last 6 times longer than regular batteries" ads which is something like 20 years old in our country as the claim could not be proven.

That slogan was born at a time when a "regular" battery was a zinc-carbon cell, in which case 6 times longer life would be expected.

maybe they make them too big so you can tell if you bought counterfeit ones.

Hello Guys

I haven't had too may problems with Duracell sizewise and they even fit OK in my Petzl headlamp.

BUT, I will never buy them again as I've had at least 3 lots with expiry dates as 2010 not having any juice at all. Stone dead. And they were not counterfeits and they were in sealed packs, bought from hardware or department stores.

Sometimes I keep dockets so I can return the batteries but I've had so much lip from stores about batteries returned that I don't bother anymore. Most of my small batteries are NimH rechargeables these days.
