The thread on streaming radio reminded me of some streams of old techonology program from the swedish television. The oldest one is from 1959 and is a visit to an audiophile who had been trying to find the ultimate in sound reproduction since 1921. He is presented as "an expert on playing the gramophone"
. http://svt.se/svt/road/Classic/share...46695&a=525921 For those of you who understand swedish, the dialogue between Erik Bergsten and the audiophile, lektor Munthe, is often very amusing for modern ears. However, affacinados of vintage gramophones might enjoy just watching his collection of equipment even if not understanding what they say. Most of the equipment is entirely or to some extent custom made after his own ideas, or made by himself, like the "remote control", which consists of a button on the coffee table connected to a hydraulic arm lift. Enjoy |

Great stuff! The old man has taste--Garrard 301. It's also depressing. Look at the built of that stuff. Then look at the rubbish we call high-end today. The old man shows off a gramophone from 1922. Who will be using anything made today 80 yrs from now, if even remember any of it?
