Use a monochrome CCD video camera that has good sensitivity for infrared light and put a pair of them into goggles, then, mount a small LCD and lens into each eyepiece, connect them together and you have the video system. Next, make a large array of infrared diodes on a pc board and you can aim them at whatever you want. A little battery pack can be put in a pouch on your belt or perhaps in your pocket.
Viola! Night vision goggles!
