You can also

.... purchase resistive wire
with different thickness (current rating) and Ohm/meter coefficients.
You can buy these resistor wires rolled up on bobbins of a few sizes.

This way you will keep your power resistors intact.

Resistance wire material can be, for example:
Kanthal D --- Specific resistance: 1.3 Ω mm2 and 1 meter at +20 °C
Nikrothal 80 --- Specific resistance: 1.09 Ω mm2 and 1 meter at +20 °C
