DIY power filters?

I know this guy and he has this huge transformer that you are supost to plug into the wall then plug all your audio equipment into the transformer.

Is this a good power filter for my high end audio project?
How much should i be paying?
Is there any other DIY power filters i can build myself with this thing?

That transformer will filter a bit and waste some power....
