Who Would Like To See The Private Message Function Enabled?

Hasn't worked for several months. Don't know if it ever worked. Would anyone else like to see it working?

It's never been enabled to my knowledge. Mostly a concern about excessive server load and costly bandwidth I would presume. I'll have a talk to Jason about it and see what transpires.

I don't see much benefit in private messaging. E-mail is usually available, and private messaging might move conversations off the board that would potentially be helpful to others. I like the idea of keeping most conversation in the public medium and using e-mail for private matters.

If we implement any thing like this at all, it is highly likely that we would implement a real-time private chat system. I'll let you all know more in a few weeks time once I've had time to discuss the pro's and con's with Jason.

I believe that private messaging would be a great benefit.

There are many times when I (and probably others) get into a tete-a-tete which pollutes the thread. Messaging would avoid that.

This is not in lieu of standard messaging, just a "feature".
