Will Higher End CD Players read CD-r Data Disks?

I am going to purchase my first better grade CD Player - probably the Marantz CD5001 single player or DD4001 changer. The spec sheets refer to them reading compact disks - digital audio.

Will these players read music recorded on (blank) data disks as opposed to the more expensive (blank) audio disks?

Is better quality achieved by using the audio quality disks?

The restaraunt I used to work at had a Marantz and they played all burned CD's, including CDRW's. So does my Yamaha.
