After a year of messing around on other diy audio forums, I’ve finally found a home at diyaudio.com. I wanted to contribute something, so here’s a little tidbit:
http://www.thorlabs.com/product.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=1745 Part number AP8E25E is a thread adapter, #8-32 to 1/4”-20, at $1.48. For $4.44, you can remove the rubber feet from your Shunyata Hydra and replace them with just about any spike you have around. I won’t promise improvements in sound, and haven’t bothered to A/B it, but adding three spikes from Supercell Audio ($3.85/ea at http://www.supercellaudio.com/Pages/Floor%20Spikes.htm) lets me stick my Hydra firmly on the carpet. You may end up spending more on shipping than for the diy hydra spikes, but it’s about the cheapest tweak I’ve found. And thanks to everyone hanging around here for being so helpful all the time! |
