4 ohm - 3-way passive crossover wanted
Anyone know of any companies that build (either custom or pre-fab) 3-way Low/Mid/High (4 ohm) passive crossovers for a PA speaker setup? Everyone makes the 8 ohm sets which is what I've been using, but I'm in a position where I can afford to replace them with the proper x/o's.
I've thought about picking up a set of matched Eminence 500 Hz / 3.5 kHz crossovers (8 ohm) and converting them to 4 ohm, but I'm not sure how much work that would take.
I'm not building high quality speakers here also.. these are simply smaller bar/house party dj speakers. Lets keep the budget around $150.00 for the set.
I take it you don't solder?
Since you're looking at using a store bought 3-way that may or may not match the curves of your speakers, I bet you could build your own within the price range stated if you soldered or knew someone who did.
The Eminence xo's use -12db for bass, a -6db for midrange and a -18db for the tweeter slopes in thier Parts Express xo's. Using a few of the online calculators you could make something similar yourself. I think you'll notice that in order to convert from 8ohm to 4ohm values, you basically cut the existing values in half.
