Deskjet 820CXI dumpster-dive

Hi.

I've just found a Deskjet 820CXI in a dumpster. After a good cleaning it seems to work almost ok... There's no black ink (or at least its not coming out..), there´s a little to much noise (needs oil..) and It's not happy about doing the "cleaning routine".

It had some problems getting the paper from the tray into to printer itself... I think it was due to a rubber-roller that had lost a lot of it´s grip.

Is this printer worth the effort of further repair and a new black toner (or refill) ?

It seems to be a sturdy unit and it's sold as a "professional printer"...

Any comments?

Unfortunately my generic experience is that if you buy a new cart, you will have found that it is beyond repair and you will be stuck with a useless cartridge.

I've just found a dirt-cheap toner-refill-thingy (Non-original..).

So I'll keep pushing on with this.

that's a good approach -- most of the refills these days don't outright kill the printer, so you'll be able to cheak it out cheaply
