I know we have issues... and this should NOT be a political thread...
We have done a good deed or two, now and then. Please wish the USA a happy 230th! |

We'll have a nice Bastille Day celebration next week, too.
To the British members: sorry for that spot of unpleasantness 230 years ago, but really, that George III was something of a twit.

Happy birthday to the USA, but man...what a difference.
When I grew up, we in germany looked towards the USA as the land that promised freedom (and prosperity)...what a few years can change. |

Well, we will crack out a bottle of the best Bordeaux Friday next week -- after all Saratoga would not have been possible without their intervention -- but for this evening it's some of Kentucky's finest while we watch the fireworks.
fwiw -- I have been enjoying (quite) the Muscadet "sur lie" for $7.99 -- must visit the Loire valley this October. |

If you like Muscadet, don't miss Marc Ollivier. The Loire is fabulous, a beautiful and historic region with terrific wine.
We're drinking American tonight, some Lane Tanner Pinot Noirs, Mick Unti's Syrah, and Sierra Vista Viognier. If we're feeling generous, we might crack one of our Ridge Monte Bellos, probably the last '77 in the rack. Tomatoes are just starting to get good, so we're making caprese with some heirloom varieties and a local bufala mozzerella. Grilled porcini. Morel risotto. Terrine of asparagus and local chevre. Dessert is grilled Frog Hollow peaches with pepper. Not bad, not bad.
