Testing heatsinks

I'm almost done with my new homemade sinks, and i'd like to check if they'll live up to my expectactions I was wondering on how i could attach a power resistor to them when it struck me "hell, i've already 4 transistors on each!". The thing is, any ideas on how to set up a power BJT to do nothing but waste power? I know it's not hard, but i'd like a complete solution (like, being able to work with MOSFETs too and easy monitoring of the dissipated power).

Hi Lisandro,

Rod Elliot has a circuit on his website to make an amp oscillate, maybe with that and a current meter you might get some results, ( along with a thermometer of some kind as well, of course).

No no... the thing is i have NO amp built arround the sinks, just the output devices attached to them So i want to set the transistors to dissipate heat and measure how much the sink warms to see if they perform correctly.

Why don't you just use the mosfet matching circuit?

Just change the resistor values to get 2 amps of current
or so.

Or just set op the transistors to be current regulator, and short it out... ...tested heatsinks on a power supply like that...
