Headpone to

I want to connect the Headpone Output of my Laptop to my Receiver. I do not have a line out. I know I need an RCA to Mini cable, but I was wondering if I need an amp of some sort. I chatted with a person at BH Audio and they said in order to get the same volume as my other components, such as my DVD Player, I need a headphone amp. However, other forums have said that I do not.

Which is it? Can you recommend anything?

It'll work fine w/ just the cable. People have been doing it with walkmans and portable devices for years and they don't output any more than your sound card...

As Ron E said, you don't need such an amplification;on the contrary I would take care not to "up" the volume of the laptop too much.
