Default Modding a Wireless Hub for Audio Out

Not really happy with the D-Link, Linksys or other offerings of wireless audio recievers. Linksys will be offering support for .ape and .flac soon (so they say).
What would it take to add a spdif output to a vanilla 802.11g hub as a passthrough device for PC based audio database. I guess there are a couple of questions in setting up software for the whole thing.

I just saw a product that uses 802.11g to transfer AV from notebook to TV. Speaking with a manager, 802.11g is not really good if you want good audio quality due to possible interference. Data can be resend, but audible effects are significant.
Hear the real thing!
