Default Link rating, what's cool

How does it work, the cool site ranking? Is it manual or simply based on something?

Why do I ask? My site is very popular but uncool (yes, it's not very cool if we talk design at least). Rod Elliott's site is both popular and cool.

Hi peranders,

I've wondering about this. If you hunt through the links section and find your entry, you should be able to click on [ Edit / Update Listing ]

This takes you to a page that tells you this:

If you are the owner of this site, you can achieve ranking in the What's Cool Section
by using this code to send traffic to

(I've removed the hyperlink syntax so that it displays the URL)

Unfortunately, it doesn't work! Which is a shame, because I've got a prominant link to on the front page of my website!

Try going to this test page. Scroll down and click on (the text - Not the image, which will work). You should get an error page...

It will be nice when this is fixed, as I'd love to be cool

It's made for people for make their own links up, but I think I remember hacking it so people don't need to 'make an account' to add links (too much friction). That said, I only get one new link submission every month or so, so it can't be working that well. The old system got at least one new link a week, usually in batches.

Uhm, yeah it will be revisited down the tracks, especially if someone can find a decent link script (I can't find any!).

I'd forgotten that i'd even got my site listed there. When i go into browse it shows 329 links, when i go into What's cool i get 329 links. What's popular i get 329 links.

Seems to me like the last 2 would be more useful if they picked a top X number of sites.

And i guess i should finish writing that intro essay for my site that has DIYaudio mentioned (it is on the sponsor's page)
