This is just a thread for communicating with a CNC man. No topic, nothing interresting. Hope I am not offending anyone in using the forum in such a manner, this is 100% related to DIY audio... enough of a disclaimer, here goes the first picture... This is what I want the top plate to look like. A layer of 5mm granite over 10mm MDF, with a copper film an the bottom side. Above view:

Now, I wouldn't expect you to have machinery for granite (tell me if you do) and I can make the copper film myself. What I would ask for is wether the MDF layer is a job you'd like. top view:

This is by the way the amp that is changing skin. It's just finished here the other day, but I know it will take some time to make all the parts for a chassi I really like so I figured I could start thinking about it right away...

That's all for now.. easier describing with pictures on a forum than in words and attachments by email.

oh yeah, I also need to get some mounting brackets (also MDF) for some cylindrical shaped volume transformers.. As of now they are fastened with wire and those adhesive stickers one uses to put up stuff on the bathroom wall.. I'll draw them and put them here. But not tonight.

Regarding the wooden chassis frame, I am thinking mahogany (to match my mahogany horns), with segments of a bright wood, and a volume knob from the same bright wood. This could be anything.. Pine or maple perhaps. Also, around the hole for the volume selector stem, I want 24 rectangular cuts, about 1mm deep (to mark each position of the 24-step volume selector)
The final finish on the wood will be C37 I think.. |
