I have yet seen a Tektronix scope in our town dump. However, I have seen scopes used by the US DOD (7900's and 7100's) for a minute fraction of their original price on EBay.

A couple weeks ago my youngest son picked up a Kitchen Aid Mixer at the Millburn Town Dump -- the gears have to be "repacked" but a $300 mixer for nothing????

WooHoo! More goodies in the trash! Some old equipment was getting thrown out, and though most of it was trash, I was able to pull several high quality linear power supplies! The two on the right are +5V@2A and +/-15V@400mA, the top left is 28V@4A, and the bottom left is 5V@3A. Gotta love it!

Some of those VOTT horns are worth a fortune! I sold a pair to a guy in Tiawan for $900 and they were just the horns, no throat adapters or drivers!

I'm writing this on my latest dumpster dive find. The most recent version of Apple's G3 PowerBook (400 MHz/320 MB RAM). I guess it was tossed because a new battery was worth more than the resale value... i had a spare battery from my older PB & i swapped a bag of cookies for an AC power adaptor & a wireless PC Card, installed Panther and i have a very usable machine to use for road trips & for serving lossless audio.

It's a Pismo (my other PB is a Lombard but it has a broken EN port and won't run X). I'm very pleased with it and my wife uses the old one with wireless for dealing with a couple OS 9 aps
