Vertical FETs quote an "Rds on" figure in the datasheets.
This puts another SOAR boundary into the low voltage area of the curve. Does a Lateral FET have a similar Rds on value? I cannot find one for 2sj162/k1058 My circuit needs an Rds on value below 1.5ohms to keep the IV on the right (safe) side.

I have no idea why no Rds is given for lateral mosfets.
Can we try to make up a value? From figure is 6 A at Vds=5 Volt Gives R = 0.8 Ohm

Rds(on) for Hitachi 50/56/135/176 was around 1.5 Ohms.
For lower capacitance Lateral Mosfets Rds(on) is a lot higher. Benefit of vertical fets: much higher capacitance but really low Rds(on) values.
