I need a simple solution like a Pottr & Brumfield relay (with model number).
Push a button and have relay make momentary contact then release. Wait an elapsed time (like 3-10 seconds) and have relay re-energize for a second momentary contact. Ideally, power can be from wallwart ~ 6-12VDC. Relay contact rating is TTL level signal (~ < 50mV @ 5.5VDC.) |

If relay contact is TTL, what bars you from using a transistor switch or another solid state switch device for the contact switch? or do you mean the coil rating is 5.5V? Triacs will switch AC.

Hi chipco3434,
Yeah, it sounds like a circuit to control the relay. We would need load volts and current, AC or DC. Heck, a triac might work if it's AC. -Chris |

Hey... I could build thay circuit!
But I would rather just buy the device. Not much pride in DIY industrial supply. Anybody know that Potter & Brumfield line? Searched for a customer service number but I suspect that Tyco has pulled every soul out of that company... just a fax number in cyberspace to receive orders. To answer your questions, yes, coil voltage should be a simple DC voltage supply. 6-12VDC. The relay will fire another solid state device... so load rating is miniscule. |

Hi chipco3434,
Is there any reason to isolate the trigger from the circuit - the other solid state device? A relay may not be needed, if isolation is required, an optoisolater could be used. You will be buying a complete circuit for this as there is a timing function. There are some specialized relay-circuits made up, but they are expensive. You want to trip the relay, and have it trip again 3~10 sec later on it's own (how long?). No a common application for a prebuilt. Normally there are timed on. So, push button and the relay stays on for X amount of time. -Chris |

Both hits are momentary... a duration of ~ 200mS is required.
The first button push causes a momentary energization followed by a timed delay until another ~200mS energization. |

What happens if the button is held down? Do you have to protect against this?
