computer/speaker hookup

does anyone know what i would need to hook normal stereo speakers
up to my computer? thanks

Assuming you already have a reciever powering your speakers, all you will need is an adapter or a "Y". Make sure your reciever powering your speakers has RCA input for an external audio source first (may be marked as "CD" or "VIDEO1" or "AUX". Then go get a 3.5mm Stereo to Dual RCA mono connector. This will be in either the form of a "Y" cable or in the form of a small plastic adapter.

Also get a long enough stereo RCA cable to make the run to your reciever (6' 9' 12' etc...)

Then just hook the Y into your computer's speaker out, attach the RCA cable to the Y and into the back (or sometimes front) AUX input (or "CD" or VIDEO1" etc..) of your reciever and you are ready to roll.

Note: The "Y" Cable should look the same as the "Y" used in this:

Well if your sound card doesn't have RCA jack (Very probable), you have to get a 1/8" male stereo jack -> 2x RCA female adapter like ron.eddy told.
