Hi all, I've heard of the advantages of shielded cable but I dont really want to replace my already expensive investment! If i were to feed it through copper pipe and earth it, would that be sufficient?
Hope someone can help?

Hi,
wich cable do you mean? Loudspeaker, interconnect, phono or mains. Do you have any problems at the moment? William

Sorry, that's speaker cables.......about 4 metres of em!
They do seem to pick up hash from something transmitting nearby some times.....maybe CB? |

Hi,
if you are shure the speakercables are picking ths up a copper pipe could help. I´m not shure where to connect the earth though (at the speaker or at the amplifier side). You can always try both ways.... William

Looking at it closer they are about 6/7 metres each. I wonder if I should just bond the pipe to true earth like the rest of the plumbing under there?
I've noticed it picks up the locator signal from mobile phones, faint but there non the less. |

Why are you sure the speaker cables are the problem?

Everything else is shielded...the amp...interconnects....
Must be the cables as I can induce the interference if I make a phone cal near the speakers, away from the amp. |

OK, so assume it is the speaker cables. What is happening then, and is shielding the cables the simplest solution? Does the amplifier have a Zobel filter at the output, for instance?

OK, so maybe try a Zobel filter at the speaker also and see if that helps.
