For those of who know about diskless booting of 'thjin-clients' or terminals will know that Windows doesn't support this feature (except for old obsolete and useless windows versions or terminal server edition).
Now I had a thought.... what if someone made a network device which took data straight from the IDE channel and sent it over a network card in a protocol designed for it... so in effect you have created an IDE network harddrive which is totally hardware based thus the system thinks it is really a hard drive. This would allow you to use Windows on a diskless machine. What are your thoughts on this everyone? I thought it was quite a good idea.... although I am unsure how hard it would be to implement. -Mike |
