How can I determine what type of material these are made of. I have some sheets of metal removed from high performance 2000 line raster scan radar displays. These were bolted to the inside of the mild steel cover panels. There is a small label attached to each sheet which states “ Knocking Jarring and distorting will destroy the special magnetic properties of this shield “. Are they mumetal or something else. If they are of any value I can recover the rest of them. Each sheet measures about 500 X 800 mm and is about ½ mm thick If anyone is interested in them or has a use for them please let me know, you can have them for the cost of postage.

The warning would sure suggest mu metal- I don't know offhand of any others that are sensitive to being bent or banged.

I am quite sure it is mu metal, as I have seen that in radar equipment before.
If the offer to get a piece of the cake is still standing, I would sure love to have 2 of those sheets. Cheers Magura
