Can your sound card do this?

I was googling soundcard software when I came upon this shareware product from an ornithologist (bird scientist for those of you in Rio Linda

)

an analysis of a 9 second clip from Aphex Twin

the program is "Visualization Software"

If that is for real then its a masterpiece in engineering

and has taken back-tracking to a whole new level!

Somehow I think it is the authors of the software having a bit of fun.... though if you were just doing a spectral analysis of the song and that came up you would jump out of your skin!!

That thing is entirely real; I've played the track on my computer and performed the spectral analysis which successfully revealed the image.

I just tried it out, thats kinda creepy. It took me a while to get it to show up though.

One thing I thought was interesting is that mp3 encoding kills the image

must be using some very subtle low level stuff that mp3 is throwing away.
