Default Can your sound card do this?

I was googling soundcard software when I came upon this shareware product from an ornithologist (bird scientist for those of you in Rio Linda )

http://www.visualizationsoftware.com...example15.html

an analysis of a 9 second clip from Aphex Twin

...I've heard if you take the casing off your CD player and manually spin an Aphex Twin CD backwards at half speed you are told to invest in offshore savings bonds.

Creepy

If that is for real then its a masterpiece in engineering and has taken back-tracking to a whole new level!

Somehow I think it is the authors of the software having a bit of fun.... though if you were just doing a spectral analysis of the song and that came up you would jump out of your skin!!

That thing is entirely real; I've played the track on my computer and performed the spectral analysis which successfully revealed the image.

One thing I thought was interesting is that mp3 encoding kills the image must be using some very subtle low level stuff that mp3 is throwing away.
