Default 20awg + 20awg = 15awg?

I am making speaker wire and i figure if I twist 2 lengths of 20AWG solid wire I will get one "double-strand" 15 AWG wire..right?

I'm not sure about this...but I seem to remember that's how it worked from a chart I read once...

You have the right general idea, but it's 3 gauge sizes when you double the cross-section, not 5, so two strands of 20-gauge in parallel would be the equivalent of 17-gauge.

Ha ha! That's funny! I didn't even make the connection with your name (I have GOT to stop smoking before posting), I went with the Canadian flag for the mercy buckets.

We get good homegrown here in the tropics.
