I'm mono-lingual, but went and checked it out. Even did a post (pictures & URLs don't need translation).

planet10 (I've seen your posting) why don't learn a little swedish. It's quite easy. Say after me please:

Svenska är(=air) lätt(=let) (=Swedish is easy)

Svenska flickor är vackra (=Swedish women (or girls) are beautiful)

See, it's easy!

Very good and very correct!

OK, lesson number 2:

Det är roligt att bygga förstärkare och högtalare. (ä= ai in air, ö= u in hurt)

It is fun to build amplifiers and loudspeakers.
End of lesson number 2.

Here you can that swedish is approx. 30% "longer" than english. English have many short words. Compare with german which even longer than swedish.

Correct me if I'm wrong : Autoschiebenwaschenwasservorvärmergerät (thing which warms up water for the wipers in cars).

I may be wrong beacuse I saw this thing and I noticed the extremely long word, but it was many years ago.

Default Long words in German

My favorite:

Doppeloberliegendenockenwelle

(double overhead camshaft)

This one is a lot of fun if you say it fast!

Anybody got any more?

Default THE AWFUL GERMAN LANGUAGE

http://www.hamilton.net.au/twain.html#awful

"If I had not shown that the German is a difficult language, I have at least intended to do so. I have heard of an American student who was asked how he was getting along with his German, and who answered promptly: "I am not getting along at all. I have worked at it hard for three level months, and all I have got to show for it is one solitary German phrase -- `Zwei Glas'" (two glasses of beer). He paused for a moment, reflectively; then added with feeling: "But I've got that solid!""

So, I am Swedish but I like German. Forgive for posting the old classic:

"The European Union commissioners have announced that agreement has been reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications, rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as EuroEnglish (Euro for short).

In the first year, "s" will be used instead of the soft "c". Sertainly, sivil servants will reseive this news with joy. Also, the hard "c" will be replased with "k". Not only will this klear up konfusion, but typewriters kan have one less letter.

There will be grown publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replased by "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20 persent shorter. In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "e"s in the languag is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" by "z" and "w" by "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be droped from vords kontaining "ou", and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to a al ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer.

Ze drem vil finali kum tru."
