Default Frequency Converter

Hello all you clever and resourceful people of the world. Im a graphic designer and im currently looking to create a audible frequency to visual frequency converter. You all seem like a helpful and intelligent bunch so i thought id try my luck and see if anyone has any tips for me, as i searched the internet all night and didnt really get anywhere.
i have a ridiculas computer with allsorts of crazy inputs and outputs, and all the wicked software. If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction i'd be most grateful. Cheers.

Well if you dont need high accuracy something as simple as the BB VFC32 will work.
