I recently came into a 7"-ish LCD display from an ATM that didn't work... well, the backlight didn't light. The backlight power supply PCB isn't doing its thing. I kludged together some spare parts to make up a computer, and soldered up a male-male 15pinHDsub connector for the video signal...
It displays! I had to use a little fluorescent lamp to show any image, but the display at least has SOME color capability. Unfortunately I can't tell the resolution yet because the hard drive I plugged in had windows 3.1 on it and I didn't want to mess with it... But WOW! It worked! I set it aside as a project, for now, but I may just have to make a little computer or video display unit out of it.

Fooling around this morning, I dropped the whole setup. Cracked the LCD pretty good. Ho well. Very large consolation indeed that it was free!
