Help salvage my old reciever?

i have an old reciever, like from the 80s old(it's a "nikko" 3035), its currently powering my speakers, and does about 25 watts per channel im guessing (it draws 110 watts from the wall outlet, so i assumed half of that, then split it for each of its two channels). Anyway recently its been having problems. The amp has a power dial, as in to turn it on you twist it past a, b, spkr off and a+b. Ive recently been having trouble with the a+b, if you just turn it to there, then you usually only get sound out of your left channel, but if you jigggle it just the right way, youll get sound from right channel too. But its not that simple, i get bass to my left, but next to NONE to my right. If anyone is knowledgable on how to fix this in a jiffy, id be greatful.

have you tried contact cleaner on the selector switch? Available at Radio Shack, if you have one nearby. spray it on, move the switch.

also check the condition of thesolder joints and wires on the switch. repair as needed.

It's likely that if the switch is physically worn out, a replacement can be had for not too much $, so don't get discouraged if cleaning won't fix it.

connections are all good, and i dont have contact cleaner but ill pick some up, also this knob is really weird, tis got like 10 wires going in and out of it, becuase its not only a channel selector is a power on thing.

It is likely to still be at least replaceable with a standard switch, possibly with custom wiring. If you could get a part number off it, that *might* help. Readings from every pin, to every other pin, at every switch position, either open or closed circuit, combined with a little thinking might tell you what's going on in the guts of it.

i wouldnt mind just hardwiring it in the on position actually, i could jsut take the bulbs out from behind the radio part, so everything doesnt glow green when i turn the lights off.

UPDATE after a bit of tightening i fixed the channel selector, it always lands spot on and theres no crackle or anything, but im still not getting much bass out of the right channel.

do you get bass out of the right channel using headphones?

If not, you probably have a bad electrolytic cap somewhere or a bad switch/jack on the input side. Does it have no bass with all inputs? see if you can track down a schematic
