What should be the sequence....

What should be the sequence of the following blocks in the audio chain:
1. 7-band Equalizer
2. Bass and Treble controls
3. Compressor/ Expander
4. Volume control.

Is there an article/ justification for the above?

Generally, the Compressor/Expander should come first and the Volume Control should come last.
If you put the Expander/Compressor after the EQ, it will "pump" if the bass or treble is boosted.

The default flow for SigmaDSP AD1954 from Analog Devices has the equalizers first, tone/vol next and compressors last.

So this is a mistake right?
