Default 30.000 members in this little cyber place.

Another milestone in the history of the forum.

At this very moment we reached the cape of 30.000 members.

May every single members keep enjoying this place as much as they did in the past.

Default A Toast To diyAudio

I found this place from a google search 3 years ago. At the time, it had less than 620 members, (I checked back in web archives).

I asked a question. It was answered with such patience and detail by Grey Rollins and others, I knew this is one good place to be on the web if you are an audio fan.

Now, it has 30,000 members and climbing.

It's fun to see something really good start off small, and get bigger and better over time.

Hooray for diyAudio!

The trick to the whole thing, I think, is to have passion...but also to have fun.
And, no, I don't mean fun at others' expense, I mean fun with them. We've had all too many examples of people who may have had passion, but it was expressed in a mean-spirited way. Folks like that are poisonous. Yes, I realize that large portions of the world appear to be marching to the sound of that particular drummer, but there's no reason that attitude needs to infect a simple hobby website.
Passion comes easy to newcomers. New, seemingly endless possibilities open up and that's always an astounding place to be in your life. The problem is that the beginning is also fragile. There are a few who have sufficient determination to keep plugging no matter what, but a lot of people will get frustrated and quit if they don't get tolerable results pretty quickly. With a little luck, they will find a buddy here who can get them over the hump with the first project or two, by which point they've acquired enough confidence that they're able to stand on their own and perhaps even help someone else.
I've toyed with various models for the structure of this place over the years, but the one that works best is the Suzuki method--to hell with theory, play music...we'll backfill with theory later.

Grey

Yup, Grey and Nelson and a few others tricked me into my addiction to DIY Audio by helping me mercilessly It was clear to me that the purpose of this site was to spread the JOY of DIY -not to only argue or be egotistical.
