A long time ago I was introduced to a kid in junior high. With a straight face he said, "Hi, my name is ____ . I have an IQ of 156."

I instantly thought, "Man, what an idiot!"

As far as I know the kid never made it to college. I think that he believed his lesser peers would carry him through life on their shoulders. Instead they dropped him on his fat head.

I've never seen the benefit of IQ tests. If someone is smart, let their actions show it. Life is the only test, whose results I trust.

But "Right opinion on something you don't know" - Huh ?.
You mean to tell me that you've never had to make a decision on something you didn't know with certainty? Most people that have jobs which rely on your decisions are too familiar with these kind of situations.

Yes there is.

If you hit the drum with the stick rather than the other way around you are considered a good drummer and can get a job with a punk band anytime.

Data isn't information.
Information isn't knowledge.
Knowledge isn't wisdom.

Possibly an IQ test shows your ability to understand data. But not very much more.

yeah, i had to do an 'official' iq test during a job interview. the psochologist asked me after he came back with the results if i had done this particular test before (allthough i had to fill that in on the bottom of the last page ????) i repleide NO Sir.
then he sat down, looked at me and said : i undertand you are a foreigner (Belgian) but that shouldn't make too much of a difference, howver 134 on this test and considering your age - 43 - you are far too overqualified to let you go to work in the X company. THANK YOU AMERICA !!!!!

In the files of the several official institutes, you can easily find that many countries score a higher IQ then us citizens, if compared with the same test! The truth is even more halucinant if you consider that the testprocedure in the US is far more easy comapred to other countries!!!!!!!
A La Bonheur!

Default IQ test

I did the Mensa test many years ago, not to bad actually.
Talking with some of the Mensa members after the test they conceded that "The only thing the IQ test measures, is how well you do on the IQ test. Period". Sounds silly, but think about it.

Default "Club" initiation rite

Fair enough. Some (kids) clubs require you to eat worms to become a member. This just their version of the same thing.
