Nakamichi MD2s CD PLayer Faulty

I have a Nak MB2 s (Musicbank CD player which I suppose is getting on for 7 years old now (retailed for £700 new but I only paid £200 from Richer Sounds!). It has recently developed a fault which prevents the machine from completing its start up cycle and then displays an "err" message. I suspect that it is a mechanical fault with the draw mechanism. Any other MB owners had a similar fault? There is only one service agent in the UK who charges £45 to collect and survey the machine then it's parts and labour on top. I will wait until after XMAS to put it in their hands. For the time being I'm making full use of my Luxman PD272 and Quad II's.
