I'd like to build an amp(more a stereo receiver) one day, but I would add a display (4 different ways following) and a remote control to it.

Ways to have a display:
1.CHAR LCD DISP DRIVER USING Z80 + EEPROM
2.OSD DISP : http://www.8052.com/users/phillipmgallo/
3.7-SEGMENT DISP SERIAL ICs + Z80 + EEPROM
4.DIODES, 7-SEG and LOGIC
5.LCD mono screen + Z80

1st one problem: Character LCD displays are small.

2nd one problem: Need a TV on.

3rd one problem: 7-SEG don't look good, while it might be the best.

4th one problem: $$$ and space(using 555 timers, transistors, sensors, 74xx, and tons of diodes).

5th one problem: Who wants to program some graphics? + Not cheap screen

What I want to display:
-Video and Audio source(When no pots moved)
-Volume in %(Using pot pos. sensors, disp for 3secs.)
-Bass, Treb and Bal in %(pos. sensors, disp for 3secs.)

Notes:
-ADCs will be requiered(Serial ones preferably)
-I'll use motor. pots.
-To replace position sensors, maybe 3-in-1 pots will do(if they exist)
