iPod to Stereo Connection-- How?
If you were to connect your Apple iPod to your stereo which way would you think is best?
This is not an easy question, there are tons of options:
- the iPod plugs into a docking station that provides analog output from a 1/8" miniplug which bypasses the iPod volume control, thus a 1/8 miniplug could connect to the iPod docking station and terminate in either RCA or miniplug or 1/4" stereo phonoplug formats.
- the iPod itself has a 1/8" miniplug output subject to the iPod volume control. This can be terminated to your stereo as above.
-the iPod connects via a proprietary multipin connector (that can't be bought anywhere) into USB or Firewire. Perhaps the analog audio signal can be extracted from this somehow and terminated as above?
I've tried a cheap miniplug to RCA cable, and it was horrible.
Better results were had with a cheap miniplug to RCA adaptor (a prong on one side and 2 female RCA jacks on the other) that had RCA to RCA cables plugged into it.
