AFAIK, only GSM phones use SIM cards. Telus has a CDMA system.

A friend who is into HAM and also used to work at Glenayre says that the most important thing for good RF is a good antenna that can be extended. Since all Telus only certifies these types of phones, I should do pretty well. He also said that up the final RF amplifier may make things worse as the transceiver circuits are also part of the antenna system, which is very exotic design. He also said that "boosting" reception would require using even lower noise components (as if that's possible) as that circuit relies on very high SNR to extra data from the incoming signal.

Those who claim to be making history are often the same ones repeating it.
