Import tax for electronics in France??

Bonjour,

I wanted to buy electronic equipments from USA or England. A camera to be exact. Right now I'm in France. Do you guys know if the french government imposes a tax on incoming electronic goods? If yes, how much is it?

Je voudrais acheter des appareils numeriques qui viennent des Etats-Unis ou de l'Angletere. J'habite à Brest, France. Y a-t-il quelqu'un qui connait bien le loi de douane pour ces appareils (le taxe importé, etc)?

From England there's no tax since England and France are both EU-countries. From the US, you'll have to pay French VAT (~20%) plus perhaps customs which AFAIK in most countries are from 0-15% depending on the product. Additionally, you'll often have to pay a fee to the carrier for customs procesing (cheap if you use regular postage, seriously expensive if you use UPS, FedEx or similar)
