To boot from drive C the operating system's partition must be "active", include sys files and have a master boot record.
Probably you will need to get the floppy working so you can use it to write some of these. Did you fit a few floppy drive? Sometimes when I've fitted a new one it doesn't work with the old cable, and that has to be changed as well - I don't know why. Once you have the floppy working you can use a boot disk to add the sys files: sys C: And to write the master boot record: Format C: /mbr I'm not a computer professional, so If I've made any mistakes; please correct me. |

Grrr. Got tricked into reading this pathetic thread for the second time. Talk about misleading subject lines...
Thought it was an update on Viagra and even wondered why is it not under 'solid state'. |

Boris:
Just to keep things straight, so we are all on the same page. Drive A is normally your Floppy Drive. Drive C is normally your hard drive Drive D is normally your CD rom drive, Drive E is a second CD rom or DVD rom drive, etc. If you say you have Win 98 installed on Drive C, we normally interpret that to mean that you have Win 98 installed on your hard drive. If Windows 98 is installed on your hard drive, it should boot up, especially if you have your BIOS set to boot up from drive C. If Windows 98 is installed on your hard drive, (Drive C), and it won't boot up, it might not be such a bad idea to put a Windows 98 CD in the CD rom drive, (Drive D), and set your BIOS to boot up from Drive D first. Then tell us what happened.
