If you guys need money, why not get commercial sponsorship? Another audio board, head-fi.org, has done this without compromising the forums.

Have you seen the banner below, at the bottom of this page?

Prune, we are working out ways to get commercial sponsorship without allowing commercialism in the forum end of things or allowing ANY commercial considerations to affect forum content and the free exchange of ideas.

In the meantime, for a couple weeks out of every year, we'll plague you with requests for donations.

on my payday im sending money. i am totally supporting diy audio to stay on line.. id be lost if it was taken off line..

Dave, how much money does DIY need per year to operate, and how much do they get? Every little bit of info helps.

Note that I did contribute before posting this, lest anyone criticise.

I sent an email on monday saying I want to donate, preferably by creditcard. I have not yet had a reply, though. Tell me what to do and I will do so.

I've got a couple of users such as yourself that I will email in a few hours.
