Amp supply rail voltages....

My first, small question!

I've read the specs of some amp kits that say something like +/- 35v supply and then specify a 25+25v Toroid.....while another is +/-59v and a 40+40 toroid. How does this work, how do you work out the transformer voltage to the amp voltage...I expected to match them but that doesn't seem to be the case......

Thank you! So, I multiply by 1.41, then subtract a couple of volts for losses in the rectifier? Interesting. Thanks for that.
