Hi,

I had some extra belden 89259 cable

http://bwccat.belden.com/ecat/jsp/Index.jsp?P1=null&P2=null&P3=null&P4=null&P5=null&P6=null

I tried to use it to make two digital coax cables. One cable is 20" from the CD to the receiver and that seems to work fine. There is a remarkable improvement over the analogue connection.

The other cable is 11.5' and when I set the DVD & Receiver to Dolby Digital 5.1 the dialoque disapeared. When I set everything to 2.0 Stereo Surround the dialogue returned.

I disconnected the copper shield from the ground on both ends of the RCA plug, trimmed it back, insulated it, and slipped the entire coax into some 3/8" tinned braid I had and grounded both ends of the tinned braid to the RCA plugs. Same thing, no voices on 5.1

I'm confused, why does one cable work & the other not??

Any help & suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks
