I basically make my own cables based on the different recipies you can find on the internet. Most are very informative and help you to make great sounding cables.
But nowere I can find how I can give my cables that really great look. I use hig grade spades or connectors, heatschrink and woven polyester cable sleeve. This gets me in the right direction. But I see glossy heat schrink on commercial cables, with prints on it, I cannot find any glossy heatschrink in shops. Also the Y position in speaker cables that some commercial cables have made out of aluminium, or also heatschrink is very appealing and gives a tidy look. But my cables y-splits are made with PVC tape. Does anyone have some suggestions how this can be diy-ed? |

Glossy heat shrink is quite easy to find at least where I live. Try electronics and electric hardware stores and stores that are specialised in plastics.
This is of course a matter of opinion but I think my Source tags look great. I draw the tags with MS PowerPoint and printed them on a photo paper. I fastened them by using glossy heat shrink: http://kotiweb.kotiportti.fi/audiovi...likaapeli.html ![]() The sounrce tag tells which end of the IC is to be connected to CD player (grounded end). |
