Hello all, I feel kinda like a peanut salesman at a hot dog convention! In reading some of the threads, it's plain that I am so far out of my element it's ridiculous. Anyway, let me just ask: I bought a fresnel lens on ebay based on the guy saying that info to build a really big tv was readily available and easy to do. The guys handle is jaymays1204 and he says info is readily available by surfing for diy projection, but I didn't come up with much. Anybody shed any light on this?

Yes, you take your normal TV, turn the brightness way up, put the lens in front of the screen, x distance away, put a box around it to cut down the light bleed, aim it at a wall or screen. You have probably the crappiest projection TV ever.
Sorry, he took advantage of you. You're not going to get anything high end or even mid-end, we're talking bottom end, wouldn't show it to my friends if they paid me end. Sorry. |

Thanks Schaef; you prob'ly saved me a lot of aggravation and disappointment. I'm grateful. Does there exist an effective way to diy a projection tv? I mean without ANY electronics knowledge? Is his process feasible with better components?

There are some options, but I'm not sure where things stand now. Take a look in the video section of the website. I followed it for a little while, but lost interest. I just happened to remember that particular "cheat".
