What do people feel about using wire wound pots as volume controls ?
I aquired a 100K one at the weekend for the princely sum of £1.00 (along with a heater transformer for £1.00). Shoog |

Out of curiousity. Can you measure the inductance?
That would be the figure that tells you if its ok or not. Magura

I could try putting a test tone through it and hooking it up to a scope. I have a friend with the facilities for such a job. I will sujest it to him.

Bear in mind that the resolution is finite; well of course it's not infinite on other types, but it feels that way
Also, it'll have a linear law. |

Shunting it should make it behave as a log pot (don't know exactly how but should be easy to sort out).
It has a lot more resolution than the Alps Stepped attenuator I am using on my Bride of Zen, so thats not really an issue. The question is has anyone actually got any first hand impressions to impart. Shoog |
