> DON T OPEN " A CARD FOR YOU "
> WORST VIRUS EVER ---CNN ANNOUNCED > PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST !! > > A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever > > This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet ! been developed. This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored. > This virus acts in the following manner: > > It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title > "A Card for You". > As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN. This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself. > So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You." As soon as > you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender !!!

Don't bother with this, its bogus. A quick google for a card for you and virus turned up several sites explaining that this is bogus.
People, before you spread this type of stuff around, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do a quick search to see if its true or not!!!! A couple of major red flags that say its bogus include: CNN siting things, Microsoft employees responding, and permanent physical damage. Not to mention things like "most destructive ever", and "please send to everyone" almost always means its a hoax. As a side note, wiping sector zero of your hard disk does NOT permanently destroy it, it just makes life very difficult for people who know what they're doing. Again, its a hoax people! |

It's pretty useless with this types of virus warnings because those who usually double click on everything won't stop doing so and the rest know it's a message not aimed for them.....you could also change to a non-Windows computer, Macintosh maybe?

Never believe such nonsense mails especially when it contains "news" from Microsoft or other big companies.
Better invest some time in installing a good virusscanner and update it regularly.
