Perhaps it would cost more than the rest of the project, but ITT/Cannon makes a myriad of connectors that do what your looking for and are much more elegant than dual XLR:
http://www.ittcannon.com/media/pdf/c.../Ringlock.pdf\ http://www.ittcannon.com/products/products.asp?pid=1011 Not as convenient, but electrically fine, would be the use of cheap and easy to source terminal strips. http://www.mouser.com/catalog/618/847.pdf Some colored heat shrink, a bunch of spade connectors, and some braided teck-flex would make a nice interconnect cable. A little more convenient would be to just use a row of color-coded 5 way binding posts. Unless its phantom power for a microphone or intercom, I’ve never been a fan of using XLR-3 for power connections. (has a lot to do with seeing someone start a nice little fire…) If I were in Hamilton, I think I would make semi regular trips to Toronto just to troll the surplus shops. They seem to be a great place to find large multi-pin connectors. |

These guys carry all kinds of power and audio connectors, and from their website they have good prices. They have powercon and nanocon (sounds like anime conventions). Milo
