The sad thing is that if used properly DAB could provide (just) better sound quality than FM, but this needs 256kbs bit rate because of the ancient MP2 encoding used. Governments and broadcasters have decided to provide lots of poor quality stations rather than a few high quality stations. Some people now hope that DAB+ will come to the rescue, but I am not yet confident that this will be the case. My experience of managers and politicians is that they tend to draw the wrong conclusions from their disasters.
Yeah, the same people that pushed through DAB here have brainwashed themselves into still having the same opinion about the quality being better than FM.
DAB was thoroughly outdated long before it was implemented.
