Hi again. I have made up a couple of RCA to XLR leads for use with balanced input. The shield of the RCA goes to the cold and ground lines of the XLR, and the centre pin of the RCA to the hot line of the XLR.

My question is, would this lead be safe to use on a desk with phantom power? Do I risk damaging the device connected via the RCA connectors, or the desk for that matter?

Many thanks.

Hi,
Yes, I saw few Dat recorders and wireless mic receivers with destroyed output caps (electrolytics).

or the desk for that matter?

No, phantom power (48V) has resistors (usually 6k8) in series (current limit).
