I've been shopping around for some aluminum to build my amp, and I am seeing these 2 alloys of aluminum most frequently. Are there any significant advantages or disadvantages to using one or the other? Ease of machining? Finishing?

I usually use 7075T6 whenever i can get it. Its a little harder than 6061T6 and therefore a little less sensitive to bruises. Besides that it is easier to machine/-cut since it dosnt stick as much to regular metal working tools as 6061.
7075 is much stronger as well, wich is beneficial for some class A amps. Magura

Magura, thanks for sharing your experience. Another advantage is that it seems like I am finding more 7075 in the surplus market also.
I have read that it can be more difficult to anodize 7075 because of its higher alloy content. Have you ever ran into this problem? |

Its the copper that previously have caused trouble when anodizing, An experienced anodizer wont mind as long as you tell them its 7075.
