Many of us on the forum use LTSpice, which is freeware from
Linear Technology. It is true freeware, not a limited trial edition. The component library is rather small so you have to add what you need, but you usually have to add more or better models to most other Spices too. www.linear.com/software/ |

Hi,
I use Winspice but it is not from a certain preference. It is just the first one i tried and it works reletively ok. Winspice There is no schematic editor though but there are links to free ones if you want.

I also use winspice sometimes, as an alternative to LTSpice. It
has some advantages, since you can do more things with it, but it lacks the GUI and is thus somewhat more awkward for rapid prototyping. |

There was a link to somethin called 5spice at the winspice site have you tried that. I think it included a editor.
Have not tried it myself since i am an oldfashioned kind of guy who likes textual entry.

I am usually not much in favour of GUIs either, but if it is decent
if can be of some use for Spice. I tried various demo versions of commercial programs before trying LTSpice, but LTSpice was the only one having a GUI I could stand long enough to start learning to use it. It is obviously designed by a programmer who wants it to be functional, rather than a graphical designer who tries to make something flashy-looking. |
